Real estate business in India is the second largest employer after agriculture. With increasing demand for office space and improved living standards in cities, the demand has been sky-rising. The inflow of FDI into the market is one of the causes for the flourish. Housing sector alone contributes 5-6% of total GDP. The major investments in this sector are namely Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) and Altico Capital's projects. The central government is also making huge investments in this field and they plan to have 100 smart cities will provide more impetus in the already flourishing business.
